The area

Casperia and the Sabina

A position that opens onto a land rich in nature, villages, traditions and food.

The village

Casperia

Perched on a hill and held inside its walls, Casperia is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy: a maze of lanes, arches and stone staircases spiralling up to the church at the top of the town.

The historic centre is closed to traffic — you leave the car at the foot of the village and walk up, as people always have. More than anything else, that is what gives the place the silence you notice on arrival.

The region

The Sabina

Il Belvedere sits in the heart of the Sabina, the land of DOP extra virgin olive oil and of some of the oldest olive groves in Italy: ordered hills, stone farmhouses and silver rows that change colour with every hour of the day.

We are in the province of Rieti, in Lazio, a few kilometres from the border with Umbria — two regions, and two kitchens, within a day’s reach.
